Job Description

The Associate Law School Technology Consultant is a member of the Administrative & Technology Resources (ATR) department in the Law Library. ATR provides technology planning, support, and training services to the members of the Boston College Law School community. This position provides phone, in-person, and remote support to faculty, staff, and students.

The incumbent will help with the management of the Law School's Organizational Unit (OU); will help manage, build, and deploy group policies; will help implement and enforce University data-security policies; and will leverage Altiris and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit to manage the computing environment at the Law School. The incumbent will serve as a liaison to the University's Information Technology Services (ITS) department to work on infrastructure and system changes. The incumbent will also assist with the administration of exams on computers, help manage printer queues, and serve as an administrator for the University's print-management system. The incumbent will conduct one-on-one and small-group trainings and create requisite documentation for new and existing technologies. The incumbent will have shared responsibility for managing and maintaining the Law School's web pages and providing support to departmental web contributors. The position assists Law School faculty and staff with the implementation of new technologies, as well as policy and workflow decisions. The incumbent will also help to maintain the Law School's WordPress server.

Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $55,000 to $68,000; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Fluent knowledge of and substantial troubleshooting experience with Microsoft operating systems (Windows 10, Server 2012-2018), macOS, and mobile operating systems such as iOS and Android
  • Associate TC Level: 1-3 years of experience providing technical support for hardware and software issues, including setup and maintenance of workstations and TCP/IP setup and addressing
  • TC Level: 3-5 years of experience providing technical support for hardware and software issues, including setup and maintenance of workstations and TCP/IP setup and addressing
  • Superior customer-service skills and experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of users with varying degrees of experience; and the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and implement creative business solutions through information technology
  • Ability to combine design, computing, communication, and interpersonal skills to present technical information clearly in print, on the web, and through training programs
  • Experience with, or a strong interest in learning how to use, recording equipment and video- and sound-editing software
  • Experience with, or an interest in learning about, educational technology such as Canvas, Panopto, and Poll Everywhere
  • Experience with Active Directory management and Group Policy
  • Experience with workstation-imaging software such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and Altiris
  • Familiarity with web-page design, development, and maintenancein particular, Adobe AEM
  • Experience with Google Apps and Google Apps Script a plus
  • Experience with WordPress server administration and application a plus
  • Familiarity with HTML, HSS, Javascript, and PowerShell
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/GitHub a plus
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
