The School of Law at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Professor of Law position with a focus on strengthening students' readiness for the bar exam and professional licensure, beginning in Fall 2026. The position is open to both entry-level candidates and candidates who are on the tenure-track or tenured at another school.
Major/Essential Functions
Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. The School of Law at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Professor of Law position with a focus on strengthening students' readiness for the bar exam and professional licensure, beginning in Fall 2026.
Required Qualifications
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience or demonstrated potential for working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
The required qualifications for candidates are as follows:
- Holds a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or a J.D. equivalent from a recognized international institution.
- Demonstrates interest in and commitment to developing and teaching courses that strengthen students' academic success and readiness for the bar exam and professional licensure.
- Demonstrates interest in and commitment to producing impactful legal scholarship.
- Has a record of, or strong commitment to, service within legal education, the legal profession, or the broader public, including institutional, community, or professional service.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- A demonstrated record of effective teaching in academic success and/or bar readiness courses.
- An established record of scholarly publications.
- A commitment to, and/or demonstrated experience in, supporting and engaging students from a broad range of backgrounds, including first-generation college or law students.
- Prior experience as a practicing attorney and/or judicial clerk, particularly in areas relevant to the teaching and scholarship expectations of the position.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a collegial academic environment.
- Other academic experience-such as additional degrees or leadership roles-that may enhance contributions to teaching, scholarship, or service.
