Department Summary
UCLA Legal Affairs Office of the Campus Counsel (OCC) serves as the in-house legal office for the UCLA campus, including its professional schools. In that capacity, OCC attorneys provide counsel and legal advice to officers, deans, faculty, and schools and departments of the University requiring legal assistance, and provide coordination and liaison between the campus, the UC Legal Office of the General Counsel in Oakland, and outside counsel engaged on behalf of the University.
Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor, Legal Affairs and Managing Deputy Campus Counsel, and serving as a member of the campus legal team in coordination with the Office of General Counsel for the University of California, provide legal advice on the wide range of issues associated with the administration, management and operation of UCLA, including but not limited to business transactional advice, commercial contracts research and grant matters, and international activities. Advise the campus on patent, copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property matters, including intellectual property-related commercialization, collaborations, transactions, enforcement, policy, consultations, and dispute resolution.

Qualifications
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an ABA accredited institution and active membership in good standing of the State Bar of California (or eligible for immediate membership.) (Required)
- Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar (or eligible for immediate membership.) (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
- Conflict of Interest: The position is subject to the University Conflict of Interest Code required by the Political Reform Act of 1974. The candidate(s) selected will be required to complete financial statements for public record.
